Social responsibility as a corporate objective
Healthy workspaces, fair cooperation, motivated employees, the promotion of social projects and protection of natural resources are common practice for us. With the establishment of the unit for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), topics such as these are now officially a part of business activities. What is more: We are pursuing the goal of sustainable corporate management in the core business and CSR has been explicitly anchored in the corporate strategy since 2020.
Our ambitious objective is to become CO2-neutral at the company site by 2025. However, it is equally important for us to actively support social causes.
Do good and tell people about it
Transparency is becoming more and more important – in particular for companies who are active in the digital environment. Especially at times when customers are increasingly obtaining information online about companies and are in contact with them via social media channels such as Facebook and others. Ultimately, anyone who is open to communication with fans and customers will also need to accept questions on sustainability.
Companies must therefore be increasingly ready to put their cards on the table when it comes to sustainability and responsibility with regard to suppliers, society and the environment. CSR communication is an important step for this and it gets an additional stimulus through the CSR reporting requirement enacted for large companies. Medium-sized companies should take the same path and also ensure more transparency here.
At present, the projects in the area of climate protection and social projects are being voluntarily adopted by the employees of VISUS. It is for this reason that the GOFORGREEN team was created. GOFORGREEN is the label at VISUS for the future grouping of climate protection measures and GOFORFAIR is the label for the future groupings of social measures which we will continuously report on.
The objective is to bring about a change in awareness in the more immediate and broader environment of VISUS regarding the relevance of meeting new challenges within the company. We want to be a model of sustainable management!
Our commitment to CSR is not based on legal requirements but rather on a corporate conviction that we would like to contribute specifically in the ecological, economic and social area to sustainable economic development.
We do not consider all CSR activities to be add-on tasks, but rather cross-sector tasks which concern all areas of the company. For this reason, we developed a CSR strategy for the first time in 2020 which is a part of the corporate strategy. Together with our employees, we are developing measures for further improvement in the individual areas of activity.
